M GROUP INTERNATIONAL / THE DESTINATION EDIT

Spain

Find your own rhythm.

An island home, a capital-city apartment, a long table after sunset. Spain offers different ways to live well—and the right address starts with knowing which one feels like yours.

THE M GROUP PERSPECTIVE

Begin with the life.
Then find the home.

A Madrid residence and a Balearic retreat answer very different needs. Decide whether the home is a daily base, a seasonal escape or a place for extended family stays. That choice helps bring location, access and upkeep into focus before the property search becomes too broad.

PLACES TO EXPLORE

Find your setting.

01 / Palma & Mallorca

Island living with an urban centre

Palma brings a city dimension to a Mallorca search. Compare a home connected to daily amenities with a more secluded coastal or country property. Visit the neighbourhood at different times of day, and think about how often you would want to drive rather than walk.

02 / Madrid

Culture as part of the everyday

Madrid offers a city-based alternative to the coast, with arts and neighbourhood life at the centre of the brief. Prioritise the routes between home, work, restaurants and the places you return to. In an apartment building, examine light, noise, common areas and outdoor space together.

03 / Ibiza

Choose the setting, then the house

Ibiza belongs to the Balearic archipelago, but the choice of setting is intensely personal. Compare a connected base with a quieter retreat. For a seasonal home, investigate access, management and how the immediate surroundings feel outside the busiest months before deciding.

LIFE IN SPAIN

The everyday matters.

Quality of life

A home for the way you spend time

Start with an ordinary week rather than a holiday itinerary. Where would you shop, exercise and meet friends? If children will use the home, work backwards from their needs as carefully as from the view.

Food & culture

Leave time for the neighbourhood

Food, art and public life are useful ways to get to know a place. Explore local markets and cultural venues during your search, then return without a viewing schedule. The streets you enjoy revisiting can be more telling than a single standout property.

Seasonality

An island is a year-round decision

For Mallorca or Ibiza, consider arrival arrangements, property care and off-season use. Balearic connections include air and sea routes; check the actual schedule for the months you intend to travel. A practical journey matters when visits are frequent.

THE INFORMED BUYER

A considered
next step.

Ownership, residence and the realities of looking after a home.

Ownership & due diligence

Ask independent local advisers to check the title, planning position, building costs and any restrictions on your intended use. For an apartment, include the community’s accounts and planned works in your review. Treat a rental plan as a separate question to verify.

Taxation

Spain’s Tax Agency identifies rental income, capital gains and imputed income among the issues relevant to non-resident property owners. A home kept for personal use can still create tax obligations. Request an individual review of ownership and residence before relying on projected costs.

Policy & local context

Keep national tax obligations and local property rules in separate parts of the brief. Ask what applies to the specific municipality and building, particularly if you plan short stays for paying guests or substantial works. Recheck the position before signing.

Editorial guidance reviewed September 25, 2026. Tax, residence and ownership requirements depend on individual circumstances. Confirm the current position with qualified local advisers before committing.
